Link’s Recreational Vehicle Insurance: First-Rate Coverage for On-the-Go
There are a host of recreational vehicle (RV) insurance policies for you to choose from in Alberta. Given the varied climate in the province and the different types and uses for RVs, we offer you options whether you use your RV on the weekend or for Summer vacation.
Most RVs can be added to an existing auto insurance policy for liability coverage, except for vehicles you drive yourself (e.g. a camper van). But additional coverage is recommended and should be added for physical damage coverage and any optional insurance coverage you may need.
Toys and RV Coverage
We offer a variety of options for your toys under Link’s basic RV insurance coverage. Below are just a few examples.
ATVs and Snowmobiles
All-Terrain Vehicle (ATVs) and snowmobiles are unlike some of the other RVs, such as travel trailers, because you’ll only have very limited coverage if you add the vehicle to your home insurance policy. Your ATV or snowmobile is better protected with a stand-alone RV policy, with bundled options, especially if you travel on roads or public land.
Liability
If you’re at-fault in an accident, you’ll be covered up to your selected policy limits, if your ATV or snowmobile injures someone.
Accident Benefits
It doesn’t matter who is at fault, with accident benefits protection, you’ll be covered if someone gets hurt. Death benefits and rehabilitation costs are examples of some expenses covered under this category.
A rule of thumb: If your RV is not attached to your vehicle, you’ll need a separate recreational vehicle policy.

Physical Damage Coverage
It’s great to have a hobby that takes you away from home, whether it’s a snowmobile ride or a road trip to another city in the warmer months. Whatever your fun entails, adequate coverage is prudent so your adventures stay safe and headache-free.
Most standard recreational vehicle options include a choice between a Standard (named perils) package and a Comprehensive (all-risks) package, which includes everything except specific perils listed in your insurance policy document.
Optional Coverage
Collision/Upset Coverage:
Like your car insurance policy, your RV collision policy will cover you if you have an accident riding your ATV or other recreational vehicle.
All Perils:
If you have All Perils RV protection, you have a combination of collision and comprehensive insurance coverage. The rate for this type of coverage will depend on many factors, from your age to the location where you’ll be using your RV, and more.
Family Protection Coverage:
You may be tempted to take your young kids for a ride on your ATV or have them ride alone. Check out the family protection coverage (includes insured and uninsured riders) and age limits before you head out on a winter adventure.
